Comtech VIPERSAT Circuit Scheduler (VCS)

VCS is a satellite communication scheduling system which is used to schedule network resources to support a variety of critical applications including distance learning, telemedicine, video conferencing, news and sporting event video streaming, and scheduled broadcasting.

Using VCS, all users of the satellite network have visibility of future network traffic. Using the scheduler, you have visibility of traffic including the network resources required by each scheduled use.

Conflicts are flagged automatically allowing negotiation for resources among users.

Creating Schedules

Users can setup a schedule based on the Circuit Type, Start/End Date/Time, Transmission Data Rate, Transmitter Node and Receiver Nodes. The system will verify contention between schedules to make sure the new schedule is a valid one.

Schedule filters

Filters allow users to view schedules to determine the circuit usage by the following parameters:

Circuit type
Start and end date and times
Data rate
Status

A schedule may include:

Schedule name
Receiver
Circuit type
Start and end date and time
Transmitter
Data rate
Status

Using a Schedule:

When a scheduled event is running, users are allowed to stop it immediately or they can change the end date and time. For a pending scheduled event, users can delete the event, start it immediately, or modify the event's schedule.

Analysis Report

In addition to scheduling, VCS produces network analysis and troubleshooting reports. These reports can be filtered to included the circuit location, circuit type, and its start and end date. The analysis report types include hourly, daily, monthly, yearly and top-N reports. Each report has a summary for total schedules, total successfully executed schedules, total failed schedules, successful rate, and total pending schedules. Each report contains both graphical chart and text information.
